Testing Live Reports and "Send as email"
Yesterday we did a test of Live Reports and Send as email in preparation of Kim's webinar on sharing situational awareness. We wanted to test Microsoft's Exchange Server's ability to handle lots of Depictions concurrently reading the same email account for Live Reports. The results were better than expected.
We had 20 copies of Depiction running concurrently, all reading Live Reports from a single Microsoft Exchange Server (Outlook) email account. During 15 minutes we used a variety of email accounts and Depiction's Send as email ability to submit 1456 live report email to this one account.
One person sent a very large Explosion element, which caused all of our depictions to run interactions as the Explosion disabled roads. Someone else used Depiction to make that Explosion smaller, used Send as email to send it back to the same email account, and viola! that Explosion shrank on all of our depictions. Another person selected 908 elements in Manage Content and clicked once on Send as email to send all 908 elements to that email account. There was no discernable pause in that depiction, and presto those elements started appearing on our other depictions.
It was exciting to see Live Reports and Send as email perform so well and so robustly. The test uncovered a few places to make improvements, but the core functionality just plain worked. It showed us that Depiction is ready and able to provide real value doing exercises orin times of need. Very cool.
At the end all 20 depictions showed the same 1456 elements, as shown here:
