Red Cross-only webinar September 16

Red Cross chapters around the country are finding Depiction to be a valuable tool in planning for and responding to emergenies. We are excited to be supporting the great work of the Red Cross, and as part of our activies as a National Preparedness Month coalition member, we are offering a free webinar specifically for Red Cross staff and volunteers.

We have some very cool things coming down the pipeline in the coming weeks, but for the moment, I wanted to take a moment and go over the three basic steps for preparedness, as described at Ready.gov--along with some thoughts on how Depiction might be useful.

First, a company in Newark, CA (Risk Management System) has come up with a new earthquake simulation that is radically changing damage estimates for California and other prone areas (including the northwest). LA Bizjournal covered the story. This could affect insurance rates.
Depiction Being Used in an EOC

I am posted in the Stanwood EOC running Depiction for the group. We are providing situation awareness by displaying the area inundated by the current flood and the locacations of Red Cross shelters.We are also monitoring the NOAA flood sensors so better planning can take place.
