While I generally like the look of the Open Street Maps, I find that I have to zoom WAY in before I can read the street names.  And if I add a layer with a route or an image, it obscures the names partially or completely.

I'd like an option to make the names more readable, perhaps by putting the lettering on top of the other data, or by giving me more control over the size and color of the lettering, or perhaps letting me offset the street names from the center line of the streets.

This is a common enough problem when developing maps, and there's no simple solution for all cases, but having a "draw text on top of everything else" option - perhaps something I could toggle on and off with a keystroke - would be a great help.
