Problem Saving
Posted October 28th, 2009 by v-hamm
I'm having trouble saving a file I've just created. Whenever I try to do so, I get the following message:
"Save Error:
Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException.' was thrown."
It sounds like from the description that there isn't enough memory on my computer to save the file, but I would highly doubt that that is the case. The file saved fine last time, not much data was added too it, and my computer should have plenty of room left on the hard drive.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

System out of memory
Any chance there are other processes consuming a lot of memory? Bring up the Task manager and click on the Performance tab and see what % of system memory is being consumed by all processes at the time of saving the story in Depiction.

Thanks for your help
I tried to save again. The CPU Usage % never got above 50%, but the same message came up.
Hi there, What about memory
Hi there,
What about memory utilization?

I do not know
I regret to say that I do not know what that is or how I would measure it.
Memory usage and Power Settings
You mention that your CPU usage never got above 50%. If you are running Vista, make sure your computer's power setting is on High Performance. When your (battery) power plan setting is on Balanced or Power Saver, Vista's default settings limit your CPU usage to a maximum of 50%. You can check the max CPU usage levels for each of the three power settings by clicking on the battery icon in the lower right and selecting the "More power options". A new window opens showing you the battery life and CPU performance settings for each Power plan. You should have six dots showing for the High Performance plan. If not, edit the setting to raise the max allowable CPU usage to 100% - Depiction will perform much better and your problem saving a file may go away.

I think that fixed the problem
Thank you very much!
