A trusted third-party vendor is currently developing a Depiction Add-On that will enable communication and collaboration when the Internet is unavailable.

This Packet Radio APRS Add-On will allow users to bring APRS station data into Depiction through their radio, hooked up to a Terminal Node Controller (TNC). The Add-On will parse APRS messages from a local serial port or an IP address, enabling Depiction users to send text messages, as APRS packets, to other APRS stations. Further development will address the ability to send Depiction elements and status reports over air, thus enabling complete situational awareness when the Internet backbone is crippled.
